“This has been such a great experience working with you, Maria.  I am truly in love with the living room and family room now.” - Stacy G., Ashland Oregon

Hello,

Nice to meet you!  I'm Maria Ristau, & I am glad you're here.  I would love to help you tailor your house to uour tastes, your needs, your lifestyle. In southern Oregon and beyond, I provide creative space-planning (single, multi-room, or whole house), detailed drawings for your interior spaces (cabinets, lighting, tile, etc), residential construction fixture & finsih specifications to support smooth & efficient construction, and the soft goods of furnishings & window coverings in final touches.

Style

It’s your house, it’s your style. The biases I carry are: a love for abundant natural light & natural materials, the calming presence of classic principals of balance & proportion, and a desire for a cohesive look that functions with ease. If you are thinking of words like “organic” “clean” “simple” “Mid Century Modern” “contemporary” “rustic” “northwest” “cozy” “Scandinavian” “Japandi” “comfortable” to describe your perfect space, you are in the right place. I have never specified an oversized floral ruffle curtain valance…please don’t make me do that.

Service

My services for your remodel or new residence are in the capacity of as much or as little assistance as benefits your needs — whether I help you develop the right floor plan & accompanying drawings to maximize a particular room, or partner through full service design for every detail of your house from the beginning concept of what you need & what square footage you’re comfortable with right down to the ottoman you put your feet up on when the final details are complete. I also offer “plan reviews” if you have hired an architect and would like a second set of professional eyes to screen the detais for your significant investment in your home.

Personal

It’s such a privelage to love this work and to do it in a beautiful part of the world, for nice people & with our talented local trades. At the end of the day I come home to a a young daughter that loves playdoh, lincoln logs & climbing things, & a creative husband (Ristau Orbital Engine & JoLatte are his current endeavors). Sailing is a summer hobby on local lakes. I love dancing West Coast Swing (&I met my husband Jud at a dance class!) and have partnered with “local stars” for the Sparrow Clubs “Dancing with the Rogue Valley Stars” fundraiser as well as instructed at the Evergreen Ballroom.  Tropical plants continually accumulate in my house-- I even harvested a homegrown pineapple here in Oregon!  Fresh fruit is my favorite food. The warm light just before sunset is divine. Learning new things, chasing goals, sharing experiences with friends & family and traveling are four things I am always trying to do. I have never met a beach or a pizza I didn't like!
